One of the big hypes was this product from Black Magic Design. You have not heard much about them in the drone space yet, but you will now! The drone war has started and now the camera wars are getting a leg up to a new level of size and weight to adapt to the new aerial platforms. Black Magic Design has released a new camera here at the NAB Show. The Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera is a $995, miniaturized, interchangeable lens, Super 16mm, professional digital film camera, that is designed to be operated remotely and capture action anywhere. A built in expansion port has PWM and S.Bus inputs so you can use a model airplane remote control to operate the camera wirelessly. It also has 13 stops of dynamic range and RAW and ProRes recorders. The only disappointment to me was the resolution of only 1080 HD video. To me that ends the interest, until they come out with 4K….. we are living in a UHD world now HD is just too small to satisfy our love of pixels. It is a nice piece of equipment but the resolution specs are about 2 years behind in my mind.
More later tonight, now it is time to go eat and attend an interesting gathering….
